Method
How CE Tracker works.
Where the data comes from
Every state's CE rules are public. The problem is that each state publishes them in a different format, often in PDFs or behind ugly portals, and the rules change without notice. CE Tracker aggregates 53 jurisdictions (50 states + DC + Guam + US Virgin Islands) into one normalized format you can actually scan.
Our verification process
For every state, we read the actual board's published administrative code or rules page directly. We do not rely on AI shortcuts or course-provider websites for any numeric value. Every CE-hour figure on the site is backed by a verbatim quote from the source URL, with a "last verified" date.
We re-fetch each state's rules page daily. When the page content changes, the bot files a "needs review" issue, a human reads the actual code, and we ship the update within 7 days.
Where the directory came from
The list of state board URLs is sourced from the National Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) at nictesting.org/maps. We probe each URL daily to catch dead links.
What we do NOT do
- We do not give legal advice. Always verify with your state board before relying on this for deadline decisions.
- We do not sell or share your email address.
- We do not use TikTok or Meta tracking pixels. No third-party ad tech.
Pricing (planned, not yet live)
The site currently has email reminders only. The paid tier is planned but not yet shipped. There is no Stripe checkout active today.
- Free (live): single-state tracking, email reminders at 90, 60, 30 days, downloadable .ics calendar, and the public state pages.
- $4.99/month (planned): multi-state tracking, SMS reminders, AI certificate scanning, audit-ready PDF generator.
Contact
Spotted a rule that's wrong, out of date, or unclear? Use the report a discrepancy form. Every report routes to a human who reads the source against the latest published code and ships an update.
